Mathew Mitchell

Matthew is the CEO and Partner at Bâton Global, a strategy and leadership consulting firm serving clients and communities worldwide. He advises organizations on strategy creation, execution, and transformation, alongside executive coaching and leadership development programs. His industry expertise spans technology, insurance, financial services, and non-profit/education. As a sought-after speaker and commentator, he regularly addresses topics including strategy, leadership, and innovation. Before founding Bâton, Matthew worked in global telecommunications, contributing to the development
of the world’s first smartphones for companies like Nokia, Ericsson, Sony, Motorola, and Symbian.

In addition to his leadership at Bâton, Matthew is a tenured professor of International Business and Strategy at Drake University. He teaches courses in strategy, executive leadership, and management while maintaining an active research agenda focused on the intersections of firm strategy, politics, culture, and innovation.

Matthew’s board service extends across private, public, and non-profit sectors. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce and a Fellow of the Academy of International Business’s largest national chapter. Among his numerous accolades is the Madelyn M. Levitt Award, Drake University’s highest honor
for teaching.

He holds a B.A. in Physics and Mathematics from Rollins College, an MBA from the Crummer School of Business, and a Ph.D. in International Business from the University of South Carolina, the world’s top program in international business.
