At Puppy Jake Foundation, every graduation is the start of a new chapter filled with hope, healing and partnership. Each of these matches represents countless hours of training, the dedication of our fosters and volunteers, and the courage of our veterans who open their hearts to a new companion.
Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to three incredible veteran/service dog teams who recently graduated from training.
Sean & Chips
When Sean welcomed Chips into his life, it marked both a beautiful ending and an exciting new beginning. Sean’s first service dog, 4Runner, was one of the very first placed by Puppy Jake Foundation. After years of loyal service, 4Runner is enjoying a well-earned retirement.
Now, Chips has stepped in to continue that legacy. Named in honor of the most decorated dog of World War II by the Anderson family — longtime Puppy Jake fosters — Chips carries a name rooted in courage. Over the past two years, dedicated volunteers Kayla and Lindsey were two of the fosters who poured their time, love and patience into training Chips, preparing him for this very moment. Together, Sean and Chips are ready to face the future with confidence and strength.
Megan & Jessie
For Megan, graduation with Jessie was a milestone layered with meaning. Jessie was named by a Puppy Jake volunteer in memory of a dear friend, ensuring that every step Megan takes with Jessie is a tribute as well as a new beginning.
Megan also holds a special place in our organization’s story: she is just the second female veteran to receive a service dog through Puppy Jake. We are honored to stand alongside her as she and Jessie begin their journey together.
Tony & Kimchi
Every graduation tells a story of community, and the story of Tony and Kimchi is no exception.
Training a service dog takes many hands and many hearts, and Kimchi’s path to graduation was supported by so many. In their graduation photo, you’ll see Renee, our lead trainer; Lisa, a longtime volunteer who fostered Kimchi through Phase 5; and of course Kimchi and Tony, standing proudly as a new team.
Looking Ahead
Sean and Chips. Megan and Jessie. Tony and Kimchi. Each team represents resilience, love, and the belief that life after service can be fuller and brighter with a loyal partner by your side. To our volunteers, fosters, and supporters: thank you for making these moments possible. And to our graduates—both human and canine—congratulations on the start of this next great adventure.
