August was filled with stories of service, second chances and the people and dogs who make Puppy Jake Foundation’s mission possible.
In this edition of Pupdates, we introduced readers to Renee Moore, our Director of Training, and celebrated her 10 years of helping Puppy Jake dogs prepare for their future work. Renee shared her training philosophy, the importance of listening to the dog in front of you and why not every dog is meant to become a service dog.
We shared Betty’s unexpected second career. After being re-careered from Puppy Jake’s traditional service dog program, Betty began naturally alerting to changes in her owner Mackenzie’s blood sugar. Today, the two are working together through Puppy Jake’s Endorsement Program.
Readers also met Rod, a Phase 1 puppy whose name honors the late Rod Lynch. Through our partnership with Cargill, Rod’s service dog journey is carrying forward the legacy of an Iowan remembered for his commitment to service, leadership and community.
